Member Information

Who can be a Member?

Membership consists of the following categories:


ORDINARY MEMBERSHIP open to all individuals employed or engaged in the insurance industry in The Bahamas .

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP open to all those persons interested in insurance but who are not employed in the industry.  Associate members may attend General Meetings but have no voting rights, and are not be eligible for election to the Council.

 

CORPORATE MEMBERSHIP open to any business entity involved in any class of insurance business in The Bahamas.  Corporate members designate, in writing to the Institute, a chief representative and two alternates. Such representative or alternates have the right to attend General Meetings, but do not have a vote and are not eligible for election to the Council.

 

HONORARY MEMBERSHIP Honorary Members are those individuals who the Council deems worthy of the distinction, and are likely to promote the objects of the Institute. Such Honorary Members may be elected either for life or for a term as is deemed appropriate, and they are only elected by majority or unanimous decision of the Council.


Cost of Membership

  • Ordinary Members               -           $25.00

  • Associate Members             -           $35.00

  • Corporate Members             -           $200.00

  • Honorary Members              -           Nil

Meetings

Ordinary General Meetings are held quarterly at dates and locations advised to members.  Annual General Meetings are held annually between September and November.
