Insurance Institute of
The Bahamas
Introduction to The IIB

Records show that in the late 1960’s an insurance institute was formed in
the Bahamas. Due to lack of support, it was dissolved in the mid 1970’s.
Since that time, the local market has seen tremendous growth in terms of
the number of persons employed. This expansion in the industry led us to
realize that it was an ideal time to reform the institute.

An examination of the situation in the Caribbean shows that institutes are
present and active in most of the major islands, some with smaller
industries than our own. We felt, therefore, and our research showed, that
The Bahamas should proceed with this venture, as it was in the interest of
the local market. We are asking for your support.
What is an Insurance Institute?

An institute is an organisation for persons working in the insurance
industry. It seeks to bring together employees in various industry sectors
for educational, informative and social interaction.
